Fast forward quite a few years, and the iPhone comes out. (…) So imagine my surprise when the iPhone ships, and the default text message tone is… “158-marimba”, now going by the clever (and not actually accurate, from a music theory perspective) name “Tri-Tone”. Time goes by, and this sound becomes iconic, showing up in TV shows and movies, and becoming international short-hand for “you have a text message”… – Kelly Jacklin
I love stories like these. These last months there’ve been plenty of leaked Apple origin stories, we had the Intel move, describing why and how Apple created the Intel build, and the fact that we had to thank a one year old for that.
Or the Don Melton series describing the birth of Safari.
All little stories giving a more human façade to the giant that is Apple.
